BACKGROUND

Bangladesh is a populated country where the population is about eighteen (18) crore and it’s growth rate is about 1.2%. Rice is the most important foods of Bangladeshi people, basically they lives on rice. There are about 1500 rice mills in the country of which 30% market share holds by Boishakhi Group. Boishakhi Minicate Rice is the number one brand all over the country. Present government has taken several initiatives to increase rice production to achieve food security. That’s why rice production has been growing rapidly and achieved food surplus. Now we have the opportunity to export rice. Bangladesh has already exported Fifty thousand tons of rice to Srilanka in the year 2014-15 of which 50% has been exported by Boishakhi Group. Boishakhi Group also provides the major portion of rice required for Government consumption.

Md. Ismail Hossain, Managing Director and Chairman of the Group started his Business in the year 1985 at Bogura. At the beginning of his business he was a trader of paddy & Jute. After the successful trading business he has established a manual rice mill. Day after he feels that the business should expand has established the Boishakhi Group which consists of the following business units.
